I completed 4 Cycles of the above plan, each cycle over a six week period. Some weeks my treatment was delayed due to beds being unavailable. This was a real inconvenience as we travelled 125km from home. We had to just "hang around" until a bed become available. It didn't matter that we were "private" patients attending the hospital. If we travelled home we stood the chance of losing out on a bed! We were lucky we had Christine's sisters in Brisbane to stay with. Christine arranged time off work to be with me at the hospital during the treatments too, so she had too arrange more time off work at short notice. Thankfully Christine's employers have been so understanding throughout the last year. Throughout all the treatment of Chemotherapy I suffered very few side affects. The main affect being tiredness. Luckily I had no infections either. Really it was just the inconvenience of being in hospital for a week On 17th May I had more follow up scans. It showed that the Chemotherapy was successfull in shrinking the tumor. At the end of all cycles of Chemotherapy the tumor had shrunk to about a 1/4 of the original size. This now made the option of surgery a safe option and plans were being put in place. |
